Directions of use
1). Add 0.5 % of the KA 7 Bitumen
Enhancer in proportion to the bitumen used.
2). Heat bitumen to a liquid
status usually between 150 degrees centigrade
to 180 degrees centigrade depending on type
of bitumen.
3). Add KA 7 Bitumen Enhancer
and mix properly to arrive to a homogeneous
bitumen mixture. Usual mixing time takes 3 to
6 hours depending on amount of bitumen being
melted.
4). For super highways we
recommend that they use 7 ccm. base coarse and
5 ccm. wearing coarse. The size of aggregate
used depends on the design curves of the road
loads. Once provided with that we can give specific
answers for each load.
5). We definetely do not need
to add 10 MM's of aggregate on the surface.
The wearing course layer has to be smooth riding
surface.
6). The rollers for asphalt
are standard worldwide. They are either rubber
tire rollers or double steel drum rollers. The
important thing is that you note that once you
are using enhanced bitumen you require more
compaction than the conventional. This means
going over it a few more times than normal.
Note : The addition of the
bitumen enhancer can be made directly in the
bitumen melting tank or it can be placed in
the polymer mixing tank if available.
